3 Tips to Surviving the Holidays November 07, 17
I designed my nutritional & fitness programs to build a solid functioning foundation so that when it is holiday time, we have a celebratory occasion, or simply go on vacation and want to enjoy ourselves – it is OK and all our hard work in the gym doesn’t go to waste. With thanksgiving coming up, I wanted to share some tips & tricks on how to stay healthy, try these suggestions out with family or friends!
Tip 1: I like to fast the morning of a big holiday dinner. I give my digestive system a rest so it can prepare for what’s coming later. Try taking 1 shot of apple cider vinegar when you first wake up, followed by a light breakfast such as of 1 cup of blueberries (or any berries you like), then a smaller portion lunch. This will help better prepare our digestive systems to take on the task of breaking down & processing a mixture of foods, spices & sauces.
Tip 2: When eating, I always make sure to start with the vegetables on my plate first. If you start with the mashed potatoes and meat, you will be too full to eat all your veggies, which we need to get our fiber and nutrients. This tip is one of my client’s favorites. By doing this, and getting those good foods in first, we don’t have to feel guilty of indulging in all the holiday treats, and will most likely not over indulge.
Tip 3: The morning after I always drink my P.volve Boost Juice to help detoxify & de-bloat my body. It’s always good to eat or drink something first thing to help flush out any alcohol, or excess salt we may have eaten the night before.
1 stalk of celery
Juice of 2 lemons
½ tablespoon of ginger, fresh or ground
2 cups of spinach
1 cup of diced pineapple
Blend all together
Can add water if too thick
