The Ideal Morning Workout
When is the best time of day to workout? Ultimately, the answer is whatever time you will actually do a workout! While studies have been done to prove the benefits of morning workouts over evening workouts and vice-versa, it really comes down to the individual person and their lifestyle. But what all studies agree on is that exercising at any time of day is more beneficial than not doing it at all, so don’t overthink it!
That said, the kind of workout you do should depend on the time of day. In the morning, you have the most of amount of energy so you’re more likely to get in a good workout than at the end of the day after you’re already drained. Morning workouts will also help to open up the body, get the blood flowing, and release mood-boosting endorphins to set you up for your day. It’s always a good idea to start with lots of stretching and gentle movements. Then, if you’re into doing some light cardio, like biking, jogging, swimming or any other of these P-approved exercises, morning is the time to do it!
But not everyone has the time do fit in a pre-work workout, so evening workouts may be your best way to go. If that’s the case for you, you want to avoid doing anything too intense, like HITT or plyometrics, as it can spike your cortisol when your body naturally needs lower cortisol in order to have restful sleep.
One of the best things about P.volve is that it’s the perfect workout no matter what time of day. As a low-impact, resistance-based method, P.volve is the ideal way to not only wake up the body, loosen the joints and activate the muscles for a full day ahead, but it requires that mind-muscle connection that boosts mental focus and clarity. And whether you hit a workout in the morning or evening, we’ll fire up the glutes to get that intense burn that we crave from a solid workout without the cortisol spike.
So to get back to the question at hand, the timing of your workouts is really up to you, so long as you’re simply doing something to get that body moving. My goal is to make working out as accessible and as doable as possible, so that you don’t feel like your workouts have to be an all-or-nothing, now-or-never decision. I created the P.volve method to be something you can do anytime, anywhere with zero limitations. So whether you have 15 minutes or an hour, tons of space or only a few feet in your bedroom, all the equipment or simply your own bodyweight, you can incorporate a P.volve workout into your day.
To give you a little more direction, I’ve created the ideal workout that can be done first thing in the morning or the last thing you do before bed, no matter what your situation. I had the girls at P.volve HQ help me out, and they even did the workout in their pajamas! Head on over to my streaming website to check it out and let me know what you think.
