Don't Let February Destroy Your Fitness Goals! February 02, 18
I’m a huge fan of New Year’s resolutions. I can even say my life has been shaped by them. I’ve always taken them seriously and at the beginning of each year, I make a long list of all the things I want to accomplish in the year to come. This is a document that at the end of the year looks more like a journal as I’m constantly checking back in with it - taking notes and making sure I’m staying aligned with my goals. For me, it works.
Now, we all know when it comes to resolutions, typically nothing stacks higher than fitness. I often hear that clients are looking to finally flatten their stomachs, figure out how nutrition can support their body goals, or get the booty they've always wanted. The problem is that people create these resolutions or goals without a roadmap of how to get there, which means that they quickly feel vague and unattainable. So somewhere along the first month (yes, you read that right – most people abandon their New Year’s resolutions by February 15), they feel they are already behind, have lost sight of how to get there and … give up.
That’s why at the end of last year, I worked hard to create a comprehensive streaming program that makes my low-impact pre-hab workouts available to anyone, anywhere, 24/7. It comes with much more than just a library of workouts and exercise programs - it's a tool to help you stay healthy, stay motivated and stay on your journey to achieving your fitness goals!
My streaming program is customizable so you can design a plan that works for you. It has a built-in calendar and will send you text reminders to help you stay focused on what your tasks are day-by-day. While we are all on a much longer journey – fitness really only works when you take it one day at a time, doing what’s right for you based on your schedule and how your body is feeling in that moment.
One of my favorite features is the opportunity to upload before and after photos. Let’s be honest – there is nothing more motivating or fulfilling than being able to SEE your results and witness first-hand how far you’ve come. On my streaming program, you can upload photos every week to track your evolution, which I've found is a really effective strategy for keeping you motivated all year long (and don’t worry, these are for your eyes only – unless you choose to share them).
And lastly, and super important -- there is a tool online to track your weight, waist and hip measurements. While most people tend to avoid the scale, consistently measuring these two indicators will help you see your progress. Remember, a healthy lifestyle isn’t about finding that silver bullet – it’s about understanding your body, focusing on workouts that don’t strain or hurt your body over time and finding that balance in life that makes you feel good about being YOU!
So as we head into February - the month where New Year's resolutions typically go down the drain - think about ways you can stay on track with your fitness goals. Don't underestimate the motivating power of a calendar, daily reminders, and a supportive community, all of which we've designed into our streaming program for that very reason. Don't give up or drop the ball. If there's one thing in life you should never sacrifice, it's your health!
